Clark Engineering Case Study

Adrian Bereziuk was engaged to help Clark Engineering to move towards a successful e-commerce trading platform.

The company already had a website that was attracting a numer of visitors but for a number of reasons, the site was not ranking well and conseqently not converting.
One of the main challenges was that the site was to many things to too many people and was not intuitive.

The in-house resource James Miodonski was continually frustrated as he knew the market was there but could not communicate what he wanted to his developers and the senior managers in the company were very sceptical.

James needed support to prove a business case and a methodology that would be acceptable for all to buy in to.

We assisted by conducting an enterprise level web audit, online research into competitor analysis and keywords and establishing focus and direction.  We also needed to link the client with the developer more closely - so, acting on their behalf, we also engaged with their developers, Eskdale Solutions to convey information that would also become the blueprint for additional development.

In the interim, it was suggested that both Clark Engineering and Eskdale Solutions attend the Search Engine Strategies conference in London in February 2009.  Both did and returned three days later having realised that what was needed was a coherent plan covering site layout, catalogue improvement, URL tail modifications, content tweaking and Social Media marketing within the overall mix.

Benefits and Results:

  • During the year from February 2009 until February 2010, the overall site traffic is up by 2000%
  • From a zero start, the site is now generating sales of £250,000 additional revenue in the middle of a recession.
  • There are now plans to redevelop the strategy and grow significantly more than we could have originally anticipated.
  • Management are now prepared to invest having now seen a significant return in investment.

The business has developed to an extent now that additional web based staff need to be recruited to assist in growth development.

Pretty good for a rural business based in South West Scotland!

Well done to James who has presisted through adversity to prove that success, whilst not always easy to attain, can be reached with commitment and passion.  James has just returned from the SES conference in London again with clearer goals and routes to market and we have no doubt that the company will develop a very significant place in the UK and International markets with their products.
