Since 1999, we have been working hard in the face of sales adversity to educate and help businesses learn how to Increase Web Site Traffic using Affordable and Effective Search Engine Optimisation techniques to make their websites work for them and appreciate the value of their web and IT propositions. This has been met with some excellent success stories but unfortunately, significantly more more businesses than we hoped opted (to their ultimate cost) for 'inexpensive and convenient' options being sold to them rather than what they actually needed. This applied to Websites, IT in general and applications.
This is not slating developers or resellers in any way - after all we all need to stay in business - it is just an unfortunate fact of life that often the blind lead the blind very successfully on a route to nowhere for the sake of a sale and short term solution.
Not standing alone over the years, Adrian Bereziuk has worked with his friend and colleague Brian Mathers to educate the businesses we engage with into a more effective way of thinking about their websites and how much return they should be getting. It is an old cliche but true nonetheless
I can see so far because I am standing on the shoulders of giants.
The Website Marketing partners we work with are quite astounding in their field and we constantly learn from them on current best practice. This means that you, the business owner get the best of all worlds - right here in the UK.
In November 2009, it was decided that we needed to take a higher profile stance to get our messages across to the business community and we laid out the plans to launch the OnlineXcellence programme in Scotland.
The world renowned Internet Marketer Rand Fishkin was invited to attend the event and present as a precursor to his annual pilgrimage to the Search Engine Strategies Conference in London. Typically, London is the only UK venue Rand attends on his world tours so were were absolutely delighted when he agreed to visit us in Scotland for the launch.
In true style, he wooed the audience and gave a great insight into techniques and practices to help websites become more visible. He was so enthralled by the content and commitment that he has blogged about the event and intends with several of his equally renowned colleagues to come over next year and take part in a more significant and more focussed 2 day conference.
After the event, feedback suggested that there was just too much to take on board but no-one left the audience. Pretty good for a full day event where usually people start drifting off after lunch.
With our Greater Glasgow sponsors Central College in Glasgow, we now plan to deliver a series of content aimed specifically at educating senior business decision makers into taking ownership of where they want to get to in terms of online sales.
We will engage with a number of companies and help them to take significant control of their destiny. They will not become website developers - quite the contrary - they will become the catalysts to drive change for the better.
Websites will be audited and results acted upon to drive change in the areas of improvement and opportunity.
